It’s not difficult for me to say that Sarah J. Maas is my favorite author. Or that A Court of Mist and Fury is my favorite book. Ever. I absolutely love the ACOTAR series and have been making my way through Throne of Glass for years (I’m currently stuck on Empire of Storms). So when I learned she was releasing a whole new series, I was of course first most concerned with what that meant for the future of ACOTAR. But she’s already proven she can juggle two massive series at once and now that TOG is finished, she can do both ACOTAR and her latest offering, House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1).
Of course I pre-ordered it. It made the perfect gift for a very close friend of mine who celebrates her birthday next week and who also loves both Maas and reading general.
I’m currently on chapter two (work consumes much of my day and therefore extra reading time) and already I had a difficult time making it through chapter one. So many names, supernatural types, organizations, and other references to thinks that I’m sure must make sense in the grander scale of the fully story world, but compacted into the opening pages of the massive book (it’s like 800 pages) it was almost too much to take in. There have also been about a dozen or so f-bombs dropped in the first two chapters alone. I get this book/series is meant to be more adult (if you’ve read ACOMAF and ACOFAS you know that series is already pretty damn adult *ahem yes ma’am*) but you don’t have to hit me over the head with cuss words to help me get it. I get it. I wonder how that will continue in the future.
Okay, back to reading…
